Offred is a Handmaid in the Republic of Gilead. She may leave the home of the Commander and his wife once a day to walk to food markets whose signs are now pictures instead of words because women are no longer allowed to read. She must lie on her back once a month and pray that the Commander makes her pregnant, because in an age of declining births, Offred and the other Handmaids are valued only if their ovaries are viable. Offred can remember the years before, when she lived and made love with her husband, Luke; when she played with and protected her daughter; when she had a job, money of her own, and access to knowledge. But all of that is gone now…

Well we know that the advent was going to include a rainbow didn’t we?! I cannot help myself! this gorgeous dye pan shows it off beautifully as some times the twist can hide the full spectrum!
The deep and bright primary colours with their counterpart of secondary match the cover beautifully and the fabric it makes is divine! (spoiler at the bottom)

This book was amazing to read the first time around and I really need to get a move on reading the second!! One of my customers mentioned that the advent has been very female author heavy… and it wasn’t planned, but to be honest, I am here for it! Girl power all the way, and this one is another to the tally!!

Look at the advent so far! Isn’t it gorgeous!!!

So what book do you think we will be placing on our shelf tomorrow?!
