Advent Day 4…. Angkor Wat, Cambodia

Angkor Wat Facts

1. Angkor Wat is said to be the world’s largest single religious monument and is situated in the ancient ruins of a city, Angkor.

2. Visitors reach 2 million… ANNUALLY, quite literally not one to be missed.

3. The main temple was built around 1150 ad. It is based on Hindu cosmology, with the central towers representing Mount Meru, home of the gods; the outer walls, the mountains enclosing the world; and the moat, the oceans beyond.

Hello day 4 colourway!

Ohhhh this one is special! It’s a cheeky little pastel soft rainbow vibe delicious number!

The sky in this image was just divine and I had so much fun pulling colours for this. We have lavender blues through pinky peach and soft oranges, they head into lime yellow and then sand… and all the way back!

I can’t cope with how much I love it! Hope you’ve had a fun weekend and managed some craft and chill time in this chaotic season!

Check out the granny for the layout of the colours when worked up (scroooooooll!)

Day 5 tomorrow 🤯 where will we go next?!

Advent Day 3…. Ha Long Bay, Vietnam

Ha Long Bay fact! Just the one as today we have a local legend too!!

The bay consists of a dense cluster of around 1,600 limestone islands! Each is topped with thick jungle vegetation which makes the area literally lush. ahaa!

According to local legend, when Vietnam started to develop into a country, the Vietnamese people had to defend against a bunch of invaders. To assist them, the gods sent a family of dragons (long) as protectors. This family of dragons began spitting out jewels and jade(how fabulous), which turned into the islands and islets dotting the bay, linked together they formed a great wall and protection against invaders. Legends say numerous rock mountains abruptly appeared on the sea, infront of invaders’ ships; the front of the fleets struck the rocks and then bumped into the other ships capsizing them etc. After winning the battle, the dragons remained, interested in peaceful sightseeing of the Earth, and then decided to live in this bay.

How cool, so happy I got to mention dragons in the advent 😆😆😆

I adore this fade colourway, it dips from stunning blue through green to the bright sandy yellow shores and back!! It mirrors the inspiration image perfectly with so many colours all in one. LOVE!

How are we on day three already?! You can see the collection growing down below! If you scroll all the way down you’ll spy the granny square in this colourway – however, as I had the yarn dud – it’s not as vibrant as yours will be! The joys of seconds for me!

Where next?!?!?! Any guesses?

On to day 4…

Advent Day 2…. Waitomo Glow Worm Caves, New Zealand

Glow Cave facts!

  1. The image comes from the underground Waitomo River where the only light comes from the tiny glowworms creating a sky of living lights.
  2. The name “Waitomo” comes from the Maori words wai, water and tomo, hole or shaft.
  3. Tourists have been visiting these caves to see the ambient glow from the worms for over a century!

This colourway was beyond fun to dye! A beautiful movement in colour from dark teal with navy speckles through to vivid glowing green. Splashes of turquoise and emerald to give this yarn its full body. You’ll have to scroll all the way down to see how stunning it is when made into a granny square!

Just look at the blue greens in the minis! I cant get enough of this colourway.

So folkes! Day 2, what do you think? Are we all buying a ticket to New Zealand or what?!

Excited for day 3!!!!!! Where on earth am I jetting us off to next?!

Advent Day 1…. Cinque Terre, Italy

The inspiration photo 📸

A few Cinque Terre facts,

  1. Cinque Terre is mentioned in documents dating to the 11th century.
  2. It means five lands and is comprised of 5 villages : Monterosso al MareVernazzaCornigliaManarola, and Riomaggiore.
  3. The 2021 Disney/Pixar film Luca was set in the fictional town of Portorosso, on the Italian Riviera, placed west of Corniglia on a fictional map. Portorosso was inspired by and modeled after Cinque Terre!

GUYS!!! It’s day 1… finally!!

So here we are on the first day trip on the adventure, we are heading to Italy to the beautiful Cinque Terre. The beautifully coloured cliff side terraces with the gorgeous natural rock and sea was just too beautiful to ignore.

So here it is, the first colourway completly inspired by the absouluty breathtaking Cinque Terre. Full of splashes of colour pulled from the warm tones of the houses, earthy notes taken from the cliff edge and the blue hues that represents the sea that linked the villages. Did you know that the villages are not easily reached by car? The closes road ends a km away!

So have I convinced you to visit yet?! I want to visit one day for sure! Scroll all the way down for the granny square sample!

Where do you think we will be heading to tomorrow?! So excited!
