Advent Day 14…. Merpeople

If you’ve seen the sticker or opened extra #5, then it is no surprise that we have met the merpeople. Half fish and half fairy, their magical sea beings are beautiful and love to lie on the shore of the jinxed sea. They are, however, shy and scared of the other folk in Phantasmaland as they are hunted for their unique powers that control water.

A beautiful yarn inspired by the colours of the Reef and the mermaid iridescent scales. Tones of blue and green meet with pale sand yellow, pinks and purples.

A lovely progression and complimentary yarn to yesterday’s. Head to the bottom of the blog to see the yarn worked up.

We are two weeks in and only 10 days away from christmas, and I am definitely feeling the pressure. I am 7.5 hats into my 15… gah! Need to crochet more!

So what creature is next on the sea voyage i wonder?! So excited!

Advent Day 13…. Water Sprite

Today, we have entered a new realm and are in the waters of Phantasmaland. The first being we are meeting here is the Water Spritealso known as nixies. These creatures, although innocent and pure looking, can be lethal if encountered alone. They lure you out into deep water and then can attack from below. Approach with caution!

I am in LOVE with colourway! This is a dip dye that is a full spectrum rainbow with blues as the main colours. It was a labour of love to dye with 12 colours individually dip dyed to create the perfect fade.

Head down to the bottom to see a real treat of the colourway made up on the blanket to see it in its full glory!!

Can you believe we are halfway! I am so not ready for Christmas, although today I have managed to organise the gifts and now all that’s left is wrapping and 2 things due in the post!

And a treat tonight will see me making our christmas wreath for the front door. Today, I got out into the garden and got out my secateurs, and went at the Holly and Bay tree for the church wreath workshop! I’m very excited!

So what creatures do we think we will encounter in our water land?!

Until tomorrow

Advent Day 12…. Starlit Sky

Today is day 12, and we are halfway through! And today, our visit to the starlit Sky Realm has come to a close, but it means that today is a 50g skein instead of a 20g!

Inspired by the various hues of this gorgeous inspiration image, it is full of warm oranges, brown, rich reds, and burgandy with deep blues. A full spectrum of sky colours!

A lot of you guessed we were in the sky (I guess the wings gave it away, didn’t they!), but this realm is home to all winged creatures who nest in the mountains of Phantasmaland.  They protect the realm and land from those who wish harm to their home.

Today, we will see your second triangle complete! (Or not if, like me, you are keeping it for post Christmas crochet) I do know a number of you have kept up with it, though, and I am so impressed! It’s also a joy to see all of your progress pictures!

Scroll all the way down for the day 12 pattern spoiler and a glimpse at how the yarn works up!

What realm do you think we are visiting tomorrow, and what beings will we encounter?!

Until tomorrow,

Advent Day 11…. Pheonix

So many of you guessed it right for todays colourway! And she is a beauty! The fire beast of the sky realm! An immortal bird who can be reborn when she grows weary. A symbol of hope and joy for the folk of Phantasmaland as they remember that renewal comes after despair.

Inspired by the flames and plumage of the firebird, this colourway had deep and rich hues of burgandy, orange, and teal. This is another one that will be available for preorder in January!

Today is had the unofficial Christmas do with my amazing unpaid workers! The dream team, my husband, and my parents! (Mike, Del and Mike, and before yu ask yes it does get confusing with multiple Mikes! Especially as we also have a Mark and Mac in the family hah!)

Without them, none of this advent would have happened. They labelled, printed, stuck, stuffed, made boxed, packed, and posted whilst I was dyeing and twisting. They also picked me up off the floor when I had been battling my mental health demons this year and cared for me and my family through out.

We had an incredible afternoon tea in pettigrew tearooms in Cardiff (after the youngest school show and a spot of shopping). It was a lovely afternoon to thank the amazing support network H&C has!

Anyway! Check out the latest advent update above and the pattern and twisted skein in the photos below.

I’m excited for tomorrow’s 50! Can’t wait for you all to see!

Advent Day 10…. Griffin

I adore todays colourway! It’s such a bit of me! Beautiful tans with greys, ivory, and pale browns.

Inspired by the Griffin, half lion and half eagle. With magical healing powers in their talons and feathers that heal the blind, this is a highly regarded being in Phantasmaland.

However, to gain the aide of Griffin comes at a price of gold, as these majestic winged beasts are drawn to gold and use it to arm and protect themselves.

Today… I started to plan Advent 2025… can you believe it! I did say that I would have a year off because this time next year, I will be writing my dissertation (cries a little). However, I’ve been working on a plan… and it’s a really REALLY good plan. (You heard it here first 😆.

But back to this advent… I love seeing it growing in the image below!

And guesses for the final creature of this realm tomorrow?

Until then,

xxx Jess
