Advent Day 9…. Pegasus

Day 9, and we have met the Unicorns sky cousin – Pegasus. It is said that wherever he lands his goof on the earth that a spring will appear. Another creature that creates life for the folk of Phantasmaland.

This colourway pulls the ivory, pale blues, and greys to for a gorgeous yarn, perfectly representing the majestic sky creature.

I’m assuming you have all worked out by now that this set of creatures and beings have wings and all belong to the sky realm or Phantasmaland!

I’ve been out shopping all day today and I feel like I am finally getting there with Christmas,  although now I have much wrapping to do! Gah!

You guys have also been shopping with me, and I only have a single advent left! Eek! Thank you all so much for the orders through December and for supporting my small business ❤️

There is todays balled up yarn and worked up yarn if you scroll all the way to the bottom. We also have an image of the yarn so far in order just below!

Any guesses from tomorrow’s winged creature?

Advent Day 8…. Dragon

Kings of the sky – the Lord of Dragons has come to inspect the new visitors to the realm (us). Usually nestled in the Phantasmaland mountains, the dragons hoard most of the lands treasure. Fearless, monstrous, and bold, these creatures are not to be messed with!

This beautiful colourway features blues that’d fade through navy, into tan browns and grey. A complimentary yarn to yererdays colourway and the second in this realm!

I can’t believe that we are a 1/3 of the way through already! Insane! I don’t know about you, but I feel like time is flying!

I have so much to do before Christmas (so many christmas projects). I hope you all have found time for yourself in this crazy festive period.

Scroll all the way down for the yarn made up spoiler and a glimpse at how the yarn balls up!

Now, I could write a whole blog post about all the books that I have read that feature dragons, but I have picked two of my favourite to share.

The first is a very popular fantasy series at the moment, with many of us patiently waiting for the third instalment… it is, of course, the Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. The sass factor of these dragons, Crack. Me. Up.

The second and a massive recommendation is The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman, which is about a library that connects various worlds, and it is just wonderful and funny and brings me pure joy!

Have you read either of these? Or both?!

Until tomorrow,

Advent Day 7…. Thunderbird

The first mythical creature of the next realm on our Phantasmaland tour is Thunderbird (not the 5). A protector of the land keeping evil at bay. He creates thunder with his wings and lightning from his eyes. He commands the storms and brings rain to the land to keep it growing. A beloved and feared hero of the sky.

How gorgeous is this blue colourway! A varigated blue with rich navy and black tones through to the light and bright tones. It screams moody sky!

Day 7, and we are 1 week into the advent!! A new realm to explore, and it’s a fabulous one with some epic creatures! Now today is a suggested day for opening extras, and I’ll be posting an extra 3 reveal over on Instagram today, too, if you wanted a peek!

The next section of the pattern started today, and it will be fab to see the projects grow, I’ve been loving the updates on your Instagram post!

Today, I’ve been working all day, so I know I am unlikely to crochet at all! Tomorrow, however, is a new day and a quieter one, so much crochet will happen!

If you want to see this yarn caked and worked up, head to the bottom of this post to see it!

Look at the growing advent! I can’t promise a photo every day (as I photographed day 13-17 backwards… I was tired! Oops)

I have yet to encounter a thunderbird in bookform (i do think there are some out there that I can add to my tbr), but there is one in the Fantastic beasts movie… called Frank 🤣.

Any guesses on tomorrow’s beast/creature/being? Until tomorrow then…

Advent Day 6…. Enchanted Forest

Our first realm visit is complete, and here we have the colourway inspired by the place inhabited by the beings and creatures we’ve met up to now. The enchanted forest, full of mystery and magic, with rainbow lights.

This colourway has my heart! I mean it would, because it’s a pale rainbow with speckles and contrasting black. Flashes of the bright lights definitely make this colourway special.

Even more special is that this is a 50g skein that compliments the 5 creature/beings of the enchanted forest.

Whether you are making the #phantasmical2024 blanket of another project, then yarn will work well with any or all of the first 5 minis!

I’ve been working on some amis that I will be gifting at Christmas (including last year’s toft advent trio!), and so I will be indulging in the blanket pattern for this advent in betwixtmas (26th dec -1st jan) amongst the cheese board leftover coma and tonne of chocolate consumption!

Can you believe we are a 1/4 of the way through already?! How does December always disappear so quickly! I have so much to do, but tomorrow I’ll be working a 12hr shift (dont panic, I’ll schedule the blog, unlike last year when I had a night out and posted about 2am when I came in 😆 so professional now, hah!)

The enchanted forest reminds me of so many books, but one from my childhood would be the Enid Blyton books about the enchanted. My love of fairy tales stems from this, I’m sure. It was one of the first stories I can remember independently reading as a child and swiftly moved on to more series that included magic. Fantasy is now most definitely my favourite genre as an adult… i don’t think I’ve mentioned that 😅.

Until tomorrow, any guesses to the realm we are visiting?

Advent Day 5…. Dryad

Day 5 and time’s flying! We’ve met the final magical creatures of the enchanted forest realm! The Dryads!

Dryads are mythological tree spirits, also known as Nymphs in Greek mythology. They live in trees and take the form of beautiful young women. The word “dryad” originated in the greek word drys, which means “tree”. It is believed that they live as long as the tree they inhabit still grows.

The colourway today has a beautiful fade from electric greens through blues and teal into a rich navy that is speckled with various tones of brown.

The final stop of the enchanted forest is tomorrow! I’ve loved creating this advent, and the reception it has had so far has been amazing. It has made the long 12+ months of planning, curating, and ongoing hours all worth it! 5 more people have joined the advent this week alone, and now I only have 2 spare in the shop! This means that an incredible 72 of you are visiting Phantasmaland. So if I haven’t said it enough, thank you all 🥰

Until tomorrow, yarn fam,

xxx Jess
